BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – Jeremy Brassard (SO/Strafford, N.H.) used a strong weekend to earn the name Track Athlete of the Meet at the Inaugural Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Championships held on Feb. 17-18 in the Perry Student Life and Recreation Center. The Tigers used a consistent weekend to come away with a second place finish in the ten team field, coming down to the final race of the meet.
Brassard opened his weekend finishing the 1000m run with the best time in the NAIA, crossing in an impressive 2:27.09. He followed that up the next day with a first place finish in the mile, crossing in 4:16.85 and picking up a second bid to nationals along the way.
Bryce Vollrath (FR/Peoria, Ill.) also added two first place finishes, taking the titles in both the shot put and weight throw. He used a 16.02m (52' 6.7") mark to capture the shot put and a 16.70m (54' 9.5") mark to take the weight throw.
St. Francis finished with 214 points taking first place, followed by Olivet with 195 and St. Ambrose with 193. Cardinal Stritch University (Wis.) finished fourth with 74, while Robert Morris University – Illinois finished in fifth with 31.
Olivet will head to the NAIA Indoor National Championships on March 2-4. This year's event will be held at Eastern Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tenn.
