First outdoor competition weekend, Tigers pick up three NAIA qualifiersSaturday, March 25 2017 - Polar Bear Open
ROCK ISLAND, Ill./MARION, Ind. – In their first outing of the spring season, the Olivet Nazarene University track and field team heading in opposite directions with the throwing crew going west and the rest of the team heading east. At the Early Spring Opener hosted by Augustana College, the Tigers women throwers captured third place overall with the men taking seventh. The Polar Bear Open held at Indiana Wesleyan University was a non-scoring meet.
The lone automatic qualifier for the Tigers came from Lea Bock (SO/Salem, Ohio) in the discus. Bock currently ranks second in the NAIA with a 44.58m (146' 3") performances.
Two Tigers hit provisional qualification marks on the weekend. Kylie Bradley (SR/Portland, Tenn.) finished first in the long jump with a 5.56m (18' 3") performance. Jezri Rinehart (SO) took first in the hammer throw with a 48.42m (158' 10") mark.
Olivet will return to action at the Big Blue Classic hosted by Eastern Illinois University on Friday, March 31 and Saturday, April 1. Events are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
